The University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) has launched a scholarship program for women. The initiative, named “1,000 Women – 1,000 Dreams,” will provide 1,000 tuition fee waivers for its MBA program. Applications are now open for eligible women.
Scholarship Breakdown
The university will award 300 scholarships to women with armed forces backgrounds. This group includes serving military personnel. It also includes spouses and daughters of current or former service members.
An additional 250 scholarships are designated for women in the technology and start-up sectors. These awards are for women working in or investing in Indian tech companies and start-ups.
The remaining 450 scholarships will be available to women across India. This category also includes eligible female staff and employees of UPES.
Program Goals
UPES aims to enhance women’s strategic, financial, and leadership skills. The goal is to support their progression into senior roles. It also aims to foster the development of high-impact ventures.
Sunil Rai, vice-chancellor of UPES, stated the program removes financial barriers to leadership. He noted ambitions can stem from national service, high-growth sectors, or career advancement.
