IIT Hyderabad SURE Internship 2026: Apply Now

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad is now accepting applications for its Summer Undergraduate Research Exposure (SURE) internship program. The 2026 program offers 250 positions for undergraduate students. Applicants can choose an internship duration of one month, 1.5 months, or two months.

Internship Details

A total of 250 seats are available. 100 seats are specifically reserved for women candidates .

Selected interns will receive a fellowship. Interns completing the full two-month program will receive ₹15,000. Those completing a 1.5-month internship will get ₹10,000. A one-month internship carries a fellowship of ₹7,500.

Application Timeline

Applications are being accepted online only. The deadline to apply is March 10 . IIT Hyderabad will announce the results on April 14 . The internship program is scheduled to begin on May 15 .

Selection Process

The selection process begins with a preliminary screening of applications. Shortlisted candidates will then undergo an interview. Interviews may be conducted online, department-wise, and mentor faculty-wise, as determined by the respective departments.

Selection criteria include strong academic performance. This also considers work undertaken beyond regular academic requirements, participation in competitions like Olympiads, and performance during the interview.

Shortlisted candidates will be notified via email. The final list of selected interns will be posted on the SRC office webpage under the “news/announcement” section.

IIT Hyderabad will provide hostel accommodation. Interns will be responsible for their mess charges.

Eligibility Criteria

The SURE internship is open to students meeting specific academic requirements.

  • Students in the first year of MSc programs in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or Biology are eligible.
  • First-year MA students can apply.
  • Second- or third-year BTech students from all branches are eligible.
  • Third or fourth-year students in an Integrated BTech-MTech program can also apply.

A critical requirement is a strong academic record. Applicants must rank within the top 20% of their class based on CGPA or percentage scores from all previous study years. This academic standing must be certified by the head of the institution or principal during the application process.
