The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is expected to release the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2026 final result today. The official merit list will be available on the UPSC website, upsc.gov.in. Candidates who cleared the Prelims, Mains, and Personality Test stages can check their names. This result determines the next cohort of civil servants for services including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and Indian Police Service (IPS).
UPSC 2026 Selection Process
The final merit list is not based on Prelims marks. Instead, the UPSC calculates the total score from the Written Main Examination and the Personality Test. The Written Main Examination accounts for 1750 marks. The Personality Test, or interview, is worth 275 marks. The combined total is 2025 marks. This final score determines a candidate’s rank.
Next Steps After Result Declaration
Candidates listed on the merit list will receive notifications from the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT). The DoPT will manage the service allocation process. This allocation is based on candidate ranks and preferences submitted in their Detailed Application Form (DAF). Successful candidates will receive instructions for mandatory medical examinations.
Following medical clearance, selected candidates will begin a 15-week Foundation Course. This training takes place at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) in Mussoorie. They will be designated as ‘Officer Trainees’ (OTs).
