The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Tiruchirappalli has opened applications for the National Institute of Technology Common Entrance Test (NIMCET) 2026. This exam is for admission to the Master of Computer Applications (MCA) program. Applications are being accepted online via the official portal at nimcet.admissions.nic.in.
Application Details
The deadline to submit NIMCET 2026 applications is May 1 . The application window closes at 5 p.m. The entrance examination will be held on June 6 . It will be a computer-based test administered in a single shift from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Participating Institutes
NIMCET 2026 is conducted by NIT Trichy for admission to the MCA program across 11 National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and two Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs). Admissions are for the 2026-27 academic session. The participating NITs include locations in Tiruchirappalli, Agartala, Bhopal, Jamshedpur, Allahabad, Patna, Raipur, Kurukshetra, Meghalaya, and Warangal. IIITs in Bhopal and Vadodara also offer the MCA program through NIMCET.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for NIMCET 2026, candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree. This degree requires a minimum of 60% marks or a 6.5 CGPA. For Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) candidates, the minimum requirement is 55% marks or a 6 CGPA. A core requirement is having studied mathematics or statistics as a subject during their bachelor’s degree. Candidates holding a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) or Bachelor of Technology (BTech) degree from a recognized university are also eligible to apply.
