The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) requires all Diplomate in National Board (DNB) and diploma trainees admitted for the 2025 session to complete their joining and self-appraisal process by April 9.
Joining and Verification Process Mandated
NBEMS has directed trainees to use the Online Portal for Joining and Registration (OPJR) for this procedure. This applies to candidates admitted through the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) and those under in-service quotas from state governments, railways, Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), and the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC).
The OPJR portal opens on March 9. Trainees must finish their steps by April 9 . Hospitals have until April 30 to finalize verifications.
Key Steps for Trainees and Hospitals
Trainees must complete joining formalities on OPJR. They also need to submit a self-appraisal form. The admitting hospital must then upload the trainee’s joining report. Hospitals will verify the trainee’s self-appraisal and confirm allotment details.
NBEMS states the self-appraisal is essential for trainee registration eligibility. It must follow criteria in the relevant information bulletin. Hospitals are responsible for verifying original documents, including caste and category certificates for reserved admissions, according to MCC guidelines.
Special Provisions for In-Service Candidates
For in-service candidates admitted via state quota or employed by government organizations, NBEMS training begins only after official relief from their parent organization. Training before this relief will not count and will be considered void.
Registration and Compliance
Upon successful submission and verification, candidates receive a provisional registration letter. NBEMS emphasizes this registration is provisional and subject to further checks. Discrepancies or misrepresentation in the self-appraisal can lead to candidature termination.
NBEMS training must start within the counseling reporting window. Extensions require prior approval. Failure to comply may invalidate admissions.
