Registration for the NIT MCA Common Entrance Test (NIMCET 2026) begins tomorrow, March 3, at 10 am. The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Tiruchirappalli is accepting online applications on its official website, nimcet.admissions.nic.in.
The deadline for submitting the NIMCET 2026 application form is May 1, closing at 5 pm. The computer-based examination is scheduled for June 6. It will be conducted in a single shift from 2 pm to 4 pm, lasting two hours.
NIMCET 2026 is the entrance exam for the Master of Computer Applications (MCA) program. It grants admission to 11 NITs and two Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) for the 2026-27 academic year. Participating NITs include those in Tiruchirappalli, Agartala, Bhopal, Jamshedpur, Allahabad, Patna, Raipur, Kurukshetra, Meghalaya, and Warangal. IIITs in Bhopal and Vadodara also offer MCA seats through this exam.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA. For Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) candidates, the requirement is 55% marks or 6.0 CGPA. A key requirement is that mathematics or statistics must have been studied as a subject. Graduates with a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) or Bachelor of Technology (BTech) degree from a recognized university are also eligible.
