Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, an applicant must:
• be an International Student
• be enrolled in a Japanese graduate school by April 2026 or apply for a course starting in April 2025. Those entering in April or fall 2026, whether currently enrolled, not yet enrolled, or employed, are eligible.
• enrolment duration until graduation must be longer than 12 months.
• have a deep understanding of international friendship and goodwill.
• be able to carry out a basic conversation in Japanese.

Note:
• Research students, auditing students, and those enrolled in correspondence/distance courses are not eligible.
• Students applying for the PhD program must begin the course before the age of 35.
• Students applying for the master’s program must start the master’s course by the age of 30.

• Passport-size photo
• Academic transcripts and certificates
• Certificate of enrollment from graduate school
• Recommendation letter from academic advisor
• A video of the research plan
• Research proposal
