Exam Structure and Requirements

To successfully pass the CBSE Class 12 exam, students need to achieve a minimum of 33% marks in each subject. The Chemistry paper follows a defined pattern. This includes Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), short answer questions, and long answer questions. A breakdown of the question types and marks is available.

A MCQs 16 1 16
B Short Answer (SA I) 5 2 10
C Short Answer (SA II) 7 3 21
D Case-based Questions 2 4 8
E Long Answer Questions 3 5 15
Total 33 70

Students are required to bring their CBSE board admit card 2026 and a valid school ID for verification. An initial 15-minute reading period is allotted from 10:15 AM to 10:30 AM. This allows students to review the question paper before the writing time begins.

On-Screen Marking System Introduced

The CBSE has implemented an on-screen marking system for Class 12 board exams starting in 2026. This reform aims to improve the efficiency and speed of the assessment process. Under this system, answer booklets are scanned and uploaded digitally. Teachers then evaluate responses on a computer-based platform called CBSE Onmark (cbse.onmark.co.in).

While the board promotes this as a modernization effort, some teachers have raised concerns. They report insufficient training and a rushed implementation of the new system. The Class 12 board exams cover 114 subjects and involve over 1.6 million students. The exams are set to conclude on March 11.
