IP University B.Tech Admissions 2026: CUET UG Scores Accepted

Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (IPU) will accept Common University Entrance Test (CUET) UG scores for B.Tech admissions starting the 2026 academic year. JEE Main Paper 1 remains the primary admission route. CUET UG scores will be used for seats not filled by JEE Main candidates.

IP University Adopts CUET UG for B.Tech Admissions

IP University is integrating CUET UG results into its B.Tech admissions for 2026. This policy applies to government and private engineering colleges affiliated with the university. JEE Main Paper 1 retains first preference for engineering seats. CUET UG scores now serve as a secondary option for applicants.

This move aligns IP University with national trends in undergraduate admissions. The university already uses CUET for admissions in over 35 other programs. A priority system, favoring national tests or its own entrance exams, remains in place.

CUET UG Registration Deadline Extended

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has extended the CUET UG application deadline. Prospective students can now register until February 26, 2026 . University officials urge applicants to complete registration to be considered for secondary admission seats.

This dual-pathway system aims to improve seat occupancy. It also aims to reduce pressure on students by offering an alternative admission route.

B.Tech Admissions Process Details

IP University’s B.Tech admission process for 2026 utilizes a multi-channel approach. JEE Main Paper 1 is the primary gateway. CUET UG scores are accepted for remaining open seats.

Eligibility Requirements

Candidates must have passed Class 12. A minimum of 55% in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) is required. English must be passed as an elective or core subject.

CUET UG Subject Selection

To be eligible for B.Tech merit consideration, students must select specific domain subjects during CUET registration. These are Physics (code 322), Chemistry (code 306), and Mathematics (code 319).

Registration Steps

• Complete CUET UG registration on the NTA website (cuet.nta.nic.in) by the February 26, 2026 deadline.
• Register separately on the IPU Centralized Online Counseling portal. Select the ‘B.Tech (Code 131)’ program.

Admission Priority and Counseling

Seats are first allocated to candidates with valid JEE Main Paper 1 results. CUET UG merit is considered only after JEE Main applicants are accommodated. Students must upload their CUET scorecard to the IPU portal after results are declared.
