Gujarat Board HSC and SSC exams for 2026 started today, February 26. The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSEB) is conducting the examinations in two shifts. The SSC exams will conclude on March 18, while HSC exams will also end on the same date.
Students must achieve at least 33% marks in each subject to pass both the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSC) examinations. This applies to all stream subjects.
SSC Exam Details
The GSEB SSC exams are scheduled from February 26 to March 18. For the first day, February 26, students are taking the First Language exam . This includes subjects like Gujarati, Hindi, Marathi, English, Urdu, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu, and Odia.
The SSC exams are held in a single shift, running from 10 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. each day. The duration for each paper is three hours.
HSC Exam Details
The GSEB HSC exams also commenced today, February 26. The first day’s schedule includes the Physics exam for the Science stream. Students in the General and Commerce streams are taking the Sahkar Panchayat exam .
HSC exams are conducted in the afternoon shift, from 3 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. The total duration for each HSC paper is also three hours. Specific timings for HSC exams are detailed on individual admit cards.
All students are instructed to reach their examination centers at least 30 to 60 minutes before the scheduled start time.
Passing Criteria
To successfully pass the GSEB HSC and SSC exams, students need to score a minimum of 33 marks out of 100 in the theory component of each subject. Internal assessments also have separate passing marks.

Grading System
GSEB uses a grading system based on marks obtained. A minimum of Grade ‘D’ is required to pass. Grade ‘D’ signifies marks in the range of 33-40.
The mark ranges and corresponding grades are:
- 91-100: A1
- 81-90: A2
- 71-80: B1
- 61-70: B2
- 51-60: C1
- 41-50: C2
- 33-40: D
- 21-32: E1
- 20 and below: E2
Students scoring below 33 marks or receiving grades E1 or E2 must appear for improvement or supplementary exams to pass.
