About This Scholarship

The Scoville Peace Fellowship 2026 offers a unique opportunity for graduates with a strong interest in international peace and security issues. This fellowship is generously supported by the Carnegie Corporation of New York, John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation.

Selected fellows will gain invaluable practical knowledge and experience through direct work with nonprofit, public-interest organizations dedicated to peace and security. This hands-on experience is designed to prepare individuals for careers in public-interest organizations, the Federal Government, academia, or media.

The application deadline for this prestigious fellowship is 20 October 2025.

Applicants are selected based on a thorough screening of their applications by a board of directors. Shortlisted candidates will then proceed to an interview, which is the final step in determining the fellowship recipients.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, an applicant must:
• Have received a bachelor’s or master’s degree within the past few years.
• Possess a background and strong interest in one or more of the approved policy issues covered by the fellowship.
• Demonstrate excellent academic accomplishments.
• Possess good written and oral communication skills.
• Preferably have prior experience in public-interest activism or advocacy.
• Be considering a career focused on international peace and security issues in public-interest organizations, the Federal Government, academia, or media.
• Be a non-U.S. citizen currently living in the U.S. with a valid U.S. work visa covering the full duration of the fellowship (if applicable).
• Have completed a baccalaureate degree by the time the fellowship begins.
• Not be a non-U.S. citizen living outside the United States.
• Not intend to use the fellowship for independent research purposes in Washington, D.C.
