IIT Palakkad Student Injured in Campus Attack

A female student sustained injuries in an alleged attack on the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Palakkad campus. The incident occurred Monday night. Police are investigating the assault.

Student Injured on Campus

The injured student is in her final year of study. She is from Salem, Tamil Nadu. She is currently receiving medical treatment in Coimbatore.

According to Kasaba police, the attack happened from behind. The student suffered injuries to her forehead. Fellow students and IIT officials found her injured and provided assistance.

Investigation Underway

She was initially taken to a government hospital in Palakkad. She was later transferred to a private hospital in Coimbatore. Police have registered a case regarding the incident. An investigation is ongoing.

Investigators are not currently considering an external assailant. Police stated the campus is large, spanning over 600 acres. They believe only individuals familiar with the grounds could have been involved.

The student is expected to provide a statement to the police. Her condition must stabilize before her detailed statement can be recorded.
