Latur Teacher Arrested for Beating 32 Students with Bamboo Stick

A teacher was arrested in Latur, Maharashtra, for allegedly assaulting approximately 32 students with a bamboo stick. The incident occurred on the night of February 21 at a school hostel near Ahmedpur. Police identified the accused as Ujjwal Prakash Soni.

Teacher Arrested After Student Assault

Soni reportedly suspected students had damaged his motorcycle. Acting on this suspicion, he allegedly used a bamboo stick to hit the minor students. Police stated Soni also threatened the pupils. He claimed he would become the school principal and punish them further.

School Files Complaint, Investigation Underway

The principal of Christ International School, Zeba Nadar, filed a complaint at the Ahmedpur Police Station on February 22 . Soni was arrested following the complaint. Police have booked him under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita and the Juvenile Justice Act.

Principal Nadar issued a statement affirming the school’s commitment to student safety. She called the incident “deeply unfortunate and condemnable.” The school administration stated it stands with the students and will ensure their well-being.

The affected students were housed in the school hostel. They belonged to classes 5 through 10. Some students sustained injuries during the alleged assault.
