The Delhi government has updated its education department website, introducing a new Fee Review section and daily attendance tracking for students. These additions aim to increase transparency and provide better support for students and parents.
Fee Review and Transparency
The revamped website features a Fee Review tab. Parents can use this to submit complaints about school fees. They can also track complaint updates and contact the Fee Review Committee directly via email. The committee includes Justice Anil Dev Singh, former Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court, as its chairman. Chartered accountant JS Kochar and former additional director of education R K Sharma serve as members.
The website also details a 2009 Delhi High Court case. The Delhi Abhibhavak Mahasangh filed a writ petition. It challenged an order that allowed unaided private schools to raise fees. This increase was for implementing Sixth Central Pay Commission recommendations.
In a 2011 judgment, the court ordered a three-member committee. This committee would examine unaided private school accounts. The goal was to justify fee increases. R K Sharma was later appointed as the education expert. This appointment followed a notification from the Chief Secretary of the Government of NCT of Delhi.
The website now hosts the Delhi School Education (Transparency in Fixation and Regulation of Fees) Act, 2025. Its rules are also available in a dedicated section.
Daily Attendance Tracking
A new daily attendance report feature has been implemented. All 1,086 Delhi government schools must now update student attendance daily. This includes counts of present, absent, and leave students.
As of Monday’s data, 1,004 schools reported attendance. A total of 418,249 students were present. 256,604 students were marked absent. 882,241 students were on leave. The total enrollment across these schools is 1,557,094 students.
Student Resources
Students can now access practice materials for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET). The website offers question papers and mock tests for various subjects. Additionally, it provides mental maths question banks. New workbooks for Classes 3 to 12 are also available.
