Rajasthan Schools Launch Mental Health Programs for Students

Rajasthan’s education department is implementing new mental health programs in government schools. The initiatives aim to reduce stress and anxiety among students, particularly during examination periods. Officials announced the measures on Sunday.

Holistic Development Focus

The program seeks to create a supportive and positive school atmosphere. It aims for students to be academically capable and emotionally well-rounded. School Education Secretary Krishna Kunal stated the program’s goals.

Key Initiatives Introduced

New activities include yoga sessions and ‘gratitude expression’ exercises. A play-based learning kit, named ‘Jaadui Pitara,’ is also being introduced. These tools are designed to promote emotional well-being.

The ‘Jaadui Pitara’ kit encourages cognitive, linguistic, and social development. It stimulates thinking, communication, and social interaction in students. Krishna Kunal emphasized the importance of these programs. He said, “For us, examinations are part of life, not the ultimate goal.” He called these mental health innovations a “sensitive and strong step towards the holistic development of students.”

Age-Specific Engagement

Primary students engage with content through stories and games. Creative activities are also used for younger learners. Older students participate in camps and motivational sessions. Sports activities are included for older students to express emotions.

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) labs will screen mental health content. Smart TVs will also be used for this purpose. Officials reported positive student responses. They noted improvements in confidence and exam attitudes.

Program Impact

The department reports increased student confidence. Students are showing a more positive approach to examinations. The initiatives aim for overall student well-being. This supports academic success and emotional balance.
