The Indian Institute of Technology-Kharagpur (IIT-KGP) has established a new research center. The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) Industry Academia Centre of Excellence (DIA-CoE) launched on Saturday. Its goal is to advance indigenous defense research and innovation in India.
DIA-CoE Inauguration
DRDO Chairman S V Kamat inaugurated the center. IIT-Kharagpur Director Suman Chakraborty attended the launch. The center aims to unite academic institutions, industries, and startups. This collaboration will develop advanced defense technologies.
Center’s Objective
The DIA-CoE will serve as a collaborative hub. It will speed up translational research. The center will promote innovation. It will contribute to India’s technological self-reliance in defense. This supports strategic sector development.
Inaugural Seminar
Following the inauguration, a seminar took place. The topic was ‘Advancements in Technologies for Unmanned Underwater Vehicles and Future Trends.’ Researchers, scientists, and industry experts attended. They discussed emerging technologies. Topics included autonomous underwater systems and advanced sensors. Future research in unmanned underwater vehicles was also discussed.
