Delhi EWS Admissions 2026: Apply Now for Nursery, KG, Class 1

The Delhi government has opened online applications for the 2026-27 academic session. Parents can now apply for nursery, Kindergarten (KG), and Class 1 admissions. Applications are open for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), Disadvantaged Groups (DG), and Children With Special Needs (CWSN) categories. The application window closes on March 16, 2026 .

The application portal is accessible on the Directorate of Education’s official website. The website is ewsadmissions.delhi.gov.in . Alternate websites for applications include edudel.nic.in and edustud.nic.in .

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for EWS admission, a child’s parents must have a combined annual income below Rs 5 lakh. They must also be residents of Delhi. The DG category includes children from Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC – Non Creamy Layer), orphans, transgender individuals, and children with HIV. Children with disabilities (CWSN) are also included in this admission process.

Delhi private unaided schools reserve 25% of their seats under the Right to Education (RTE) Act, 2009. This reservation includes 22% for EWS and DG categories and 3% for CWSN. Admissions for these categories will utilize a computerized lottery system.

Application Process

Parents must register only one application per child. This registration requires a unique mobile number. All future communication regarding the application and admission status will be sent to this registered number. Submitting multiple applications for a single child will lead to the cancellation of their candidature. This cancellation can occur even if the child is selected through the lottery system.
