The All Nagaland Ad-hoc Teachers Group (ANATG)-2015 has proposed pausing its strike until June 30 . The proposal follows an appeal from the Directorate of School Education (DoSE) to suspend protests concerning the regularization of 1,166 ad-hoc teachers. A final decision rests with the group’s general body meeting scheduled for Saturday.
The DoSE’s appeal came on Thursday. They assured the teachers that efforts were underway to resolve the issue fairly and transparently. Principal Director Shashank Pratap Singh communicated this in a letter to the ANATG-2015 convenor.
Key Documents Missing
Singh noted that essential documents are missing. These include sanction post order numbers, appointment orders, and release orders for previous incumbents. These issues have been escalated for alternative solutions. The DoSE stated that genuine cases will be considered according to established norms. Administrative measures will verify records and address discrepancies.
The ANATG-2015 Core Committee held an emergency meeting after receiving the DoSE’s written communication. Following detailed discussions, the committee resolved to tentatively halt protests. This action is in good faith, acknowledging the government’s assurances.
Deadline Set for Regularization
The group has set June 30 as a deadline. This date is for completing all alternative arrangements and regularization processes. Core Committee members submitted their proposal to the Principal Director. They are awaiting a government response.
The final decision to hold the agitation remains pending. It requires endorsement from the general members. These teachers have been staging a sit-in protest since February 4. Previous actions included a march to the state secretariat and a three-day hunger strike.
A general body meeting held earlier on Friday concluded without a final decision. Discussions will continue on Saturday to reach a conclusive agreement regarding the proposed strike suspension.
