CBSE Class 10 English Exam 2026: Literature Easy, Language Moderate

Students found the CBSE Class 10 English exam on February 13, 2026 , to be manageable. The examination, conducted from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm, featured a literature section described as easier than the language portion.

Literature Section Eased Student Concerns

The literature component of the exam was considered accessible for students with a solid grasp of the syllabus. Educators noted a blend of questions testing knowledge, analytical skills, and application.

Gitika Haloi, PGT-English at Modern English School, Guwahati, stated, “The English literature section was easy for students having a broader view and knowledge of the topics.” She added that this section included knowledge, analysis, and application-based questions.

Language Section Presented Moderate Challenges

While generally student-friendly, the English paper required focused effort, particularly in the language sections. Students reported the exam was time-consuming.

The first reading comprehension passage posed a moderate challenge, demanding careful analysis. In contrast, the second passage was more direct and included case-based questions.

Alka Kapur, Principal at Modern Public School, Shalimar Bagh, described the paper as balanced. “The questions were clear and direct, mainly checking how well students understood what they had studied,” Kapur said.

Grammar and Writing Sections Assessed Practical Skills

The grammar section focused on applying rules within context. The writing section addressed familiar topics, allowing students to organize their thoughts effectively.

Expert analysis confirmed that the literature questions were rooted in NCERT content. The focus was on understanding textual themes and meanings, rather than obscure details.

Students who understood the underlying messages and figurative language found this section particularly manageable, according to education specialists.

Overall Student Feedback

Students generally perceived the exam as fair and achievable within the allotted time. The structure of the paper aimed to assess a comprehensive understanding of English language and literature.
