CBSE Class 12 Physics Exam 2026: Moderate Difficulty, Calculation-Based MCQs

The CBSE Class 12 Physics exam on February 19, 2026, was considered well-balanced and of moderate difficulty by educators. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted the exam from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm.

Exam Analysis

Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) presented a moderate challenge. Some MCQs required direct answers, while others tested students’ analytical understanding through application-based questions. Assertion and reason-based questions also focused on conceptual clarity, offering students opportunities to score well.

Two-mark questions included direct queries from Semiconductor Electronics and Nuclei. Other questions in this section involved numerical problems, assessing students’ problem-solving skills and conceptual grasp.

Three-mark questions were rated moderate and manageable. Approximately 6 to 7 marks were allocated to numerical problems within this section, allowing students to apply concepts directly.

Five-mark questions remained moderate. These focused on analytical and application-based thinking. About six marks in this section were dedicated to numerical problems.

Student and Educator Feedback

Priya Roy, PGT – Physics at Modern English School, Guwahati, noted that the MCQ section was calculation-intensive, demanding careful numerical evaluation and conceptual clarity despite being manageable. She observed the paper was more theoretical than practical.

Alka Kapur, Principal of Modern Public School, Shalimar Bagh, stated the exam was overall well-balanced. However, she pointed out that the length and calculation-heavy nature of some questions made the paper time-consuming. Average students might have found it challenging to finish within the allotted time.

Compared to last year’s examination, this year’s Physics paper was perceived as moderately easier. The paper included derivations primarily from the prescribed syllabus.
