Odisha Class 10 Exams Begin: 5.61 Lakh Students Appear

The Board of Secondary Education (BSE) Odisha began its Class 10 final examinations on Thursday, March 7, 2026 . Over 5.61 lakh students are participating in the High School Certificate, Madhyama, and Open School Certificate examinations. These tests will continue until March 2, 2026 .

Exam Details and Security Measures

The examinations commenced at 9 am and concluded at 11:30 am. Conducted at 3,082 centres, the exam featured tight security. On the first day, students took the Modern Indian Language (Odia) paper. Only admit cards, pens, pencils, and geometry boxes were permitted inside exam halls. Invigilators and teachers were prohibited from using mobile phones.

BSE implemented a three-tier squad system to prevent malpractices. Special vigilance teams will conduct surprise inspections at centres. AI-enabled CCTV cameras monitor all examination halls centrally from a control room at BSE’s Cuttack office.

Question papers now include QR codes and watermarks. These features add an extra layer of security against cheating. The board aims to ensure a fair examination process for all students.

Chief Minister’s Message

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi extended his best wishes to the students. He addressed them via X, emphasizing the exam’s importance beyond academic evaluation. Majhi described the exam as a measure of patience, perseverance, and self-confidence. He advised students to approach the exam with a positive mindset. Calmness and confidence were highlighted as key to achieving excellent performance.
