OpenAI Partners Indian Universities for AI Talent

OpenAI has partnered with several leading Indian universities to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into educational programs. The initiative aims to equip over 100,000 students, faculty, and staff with AI skills. This partnership focuses on developing talent for a technology-driven economy.

University Partnerships Announced

The program includes institutions such as the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi), Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM Ahmedabad), and All India Institute of Medical Sciences New Delhi (AIIMS New Delhi). Other participating universities are Manipal Academy of Higher Education, University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES), and Pearl Academy.

Raghav Gupta, Head of Education at OpenAI India, stated that AI literacy is vital for future readiness. He noted projections indicating a significant shift in core job skills by 2030 due to AI advancements. Gupta highlighted a gap between AI tool capabilities and user application. Educational institutions are key to bridging this gap, he said. Embedding AI tools and training into academic structures will provide students with necessary skills.

Program Details and Integration

The collaboration will provide enterprise-grade ChatGPT Edu access. It includes structured onboarding and guidance for AI implementation across various disciplines. Responsible use frameworks will align with institutional policies. AI fluency will be integrated into core academic workflows like advanced prompting, analytics, and coding.

OpenAI will support hackathons and industry events. These events will connect campus innovation with startups and businesses. IIM Ahmedabad and Manipal Academy of Higher Education will offer OpenAI certifications. These certifications will formalize AI capabilities within business and multidisciplinary programs.
