Maharashtra: 5 Teachers Suspended for Class 12 Exam Cheating

Five teachers have been suspended in Beed, Maharashtra. They are accused of helping students cheat during the Class 12 board exams. An official confirmed the suspensions on Tuesday. The incident occurred on February 10.

Teachers Suspended After Exam Malpractice

The suspensions follow a large-scale copying incident. It happened at examination Centre 224 in Chousala. This was on the first day of Class 12 exams. The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education conducts these exams. Police registered a First Information Report (FIR). The FIR named 17 teachers. This action came after a drone camera exposed the cheating. The cameras captured supervisors in 16 examination halls. These supervisors allegedly facilitated copying instead of preventing it.

Investigation and Further Action

Five teachers from Bhalchandra Vidyalaya in Limbaganesh have been suspended. This is directly linked to the malpractice. Twelve other teachers are under investigation. These teachers are from three different schools. They may also face suspension. The probe is expanding. Beed Collector Vivek Johnson ordered strict action. This was after he learned about the February 10 incident. The chief conductor of the exam center is among those booked. The FIR was filed at Neknoor police station. Charges were invoked under the Maharashtra Universities, Boards and Other Specified Examinations Act. They also face charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The Education Department instructed the schools to suspend the implicated staff.
