The National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to release JEE Main 2026 Session 1 results soon. Over 13 lakh candidates await their scores. Subject experts suggest a score of 250 or higher is considered good for JEE Main 2026. The official results will be available on jeemain.nta.nic.in.
The NTA has published the JEE Mains 2026 final answer key. A total of 9 questions were dropped. This includes 3 questions from Mathematics and 7 from Physics across various examination shifts.
A strong JEE Main 2026 score depends on several factors. These include the number of test-takers, the exam’s difficulty level, and the cut-off marks. These elements collectively influence the final score interpretation.
Engineering aspirants take the JEE Main exam annually. Admission to National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs) is based on JEE Main scores.
Only the top 2.5 lakh JEE Main qualifiers will secure eligibility for the JEE Advanced 2026 exam. This makes performance in JEE Main critical for higher engineering education pathways.
Understanding JEE Main Percentile
The NTA defines percentile as the percentage of candidates in a specific shift who achieved a raw score equal to or less than a particular candidate. The highest scorer in each shift receives a 100 percentile.
Marks between the highest and lowest scores are converted into corresponding percentiles. This normalization process ensures fair comparison across different shifts.
The JEE Main 2026 percentile score functions as a normalized score. It replaces raw marks for the purpose of compiling the JEE Main 2026 merit lists.
Each JEE Mains 2026 shift’s results will be presented as both raw scores and percentile scores. This dual reporting provides a comprehensive view of candidate performance.
A percentile score of 95 means a candidate performed better than 95% of all participants. Higher percentiles indicate superior performance relative to other examinees.
