About This Scholarship
Chevening Scholarships 2026-27 is an exceptional opportunity provided by the Government of the United Kingdom, in collaboration with UK Universities. This prestigious scholarship program aims to offer financial assistance to Indian students who demonstrate outstanding leadership and influencing skills.
It supports individuals aspiring to pursue a one-year master's degree in any subject at any UK university. Selected candidates will receive a fully-funded scholarship for the duration of the course, encompassing various comprehensive benefits. These include:
• University course tuition fees
• A monthly stipend to cover living costs
• Travel costs to and from the UK
• An arrival allowance to help settle in
• A homeward departure allowance for the return journey
• The cost of one visa application
• A travel grant specifically for attending Chevening events within the UK.
The application period for this prestigious scholarship commences on 5 August 2025, with a strict deadline of 7 October 2025. Interviews are scheduled for March • April 2026, and the offer letter deadline is 9 July 2026. Scholarship recipients are expected to begin their studies in September/October 2026.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, an applicant must:
• Be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country or territory, including India.
• Hold an undergraduate degree that enables entry into a postgraduate program at a UK university before applying.
• Note: This is typically equivalent to an upper second-class 2:1 honours degree in the UK, but can vary depending on the course and university choice.
• Have at least two years of work experience (equivalent to 2,800 hours).
• Return to India for a minimum of two years after the scholarship ends.
Important Notes:
• Applicants who hold refugee status in a Chevening-eligible country are eligible for a scholarship.
• Only work experience gained after the date of graduation will count towards the two-year requirement.
Required Documents
To complete the application, candidates must prepare and submit the following essential documents:
• A valid passport or National ID card.
• Official university transcripts and degree certificates for both undergraduate and postgraduate studies (if applicable).
• An unconditional offer letter from a UK university for a postgraduate program.
• The names of two referees who can attest to the applicant's professional or academic capabilities.
• A valid English language test score.
How to Apply
Eligible candidates can follow these steps to apply:
1. Click on the 'Apply Now' button.
2. Click on the 'Register' button and fill in the required details.
• Note: If already registered, log in using your Gmail, Mobile number, or Email ID.
3. Navigate to the 'Your Country/Territory' option at the bottom of the page and choose 'India'. Then, under the 'Select Your Awards' section, choose 'Scholarship' and click on the 'Search' button.
4. Proceed to the 'Apply Today' button.
5. Select 'India' from the list of countries, then select 'Chevening Scholarship 2026-2027', and click 'Continue'.
6. Fill in the required information to register and click 'Continue'. A verification email will be sent to the provided email address.
7. Open the 'Application Portal' and complete the eligibility test to receive an email with an access code.
8. Enter the valid access code to get an email containing the application link for the portal.
9. Fill in all the required details, upload the necessary documents, and finally submit the application.
