A 21-year-old BTech student at Parul University in Vadodara died by suicide on Thursday morning. Police identified the student as Meet Jagdish Patel, a native of Mumbai. He was in his fourth year of the BTech program.
Incident Details
Patel was found hanging in his room at the Tagore Bhawan boys’ hostel on the university campus. He had reportedly gone to his room on Wednesday night and did not emerge the following morning. The room was locked from the inside.
The hostel warden discovered Patel after receiving no response to knocks. The warden then looked through the window and saw Patel hanging from the ceiling fan. He used a bedsheet for the act, according to sub-inspector D.R. Desai.
Investigation Underway
No suicide note was found at the scene. Patel’s mobile phone has been seized and sent for forensic analysis. Police have registered an accidental death report.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of his death.
