The Bar Council of India (BCI) will open registration for the All India Bar Examination 21 (AIBE 21) on February 11, 2026. The application period will close on April 30, 2026. Applicants can submit their application fees until May 1, 2026. The AIBE 21 exam is scheduled for June 7, 2026.
Eligible candidates can apply online through the official BCI websites: barcouncilofindia.org and allindiabarexamination.com. The BCI will provide a correction facility for application details until May 3, 2026. Exam hall tickets will be released on May 22, 2026.
AIBE 21 Exam Details
The AIBE 21 is an open-book, multiple-choice examination. It tests candidates’ understanding of core legal subjects. These include constitutional law, criminal law, civil procedure, and professional ethics.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for AIBE 21, candidates must have completed a three-year or five-year LLB program. The degree must be from a university or college recognized by the Bar Council of India.
Following a Supreme Court ruling, final-year law students are also permitted to take the AIBE exams. Passing the examination grants candidates a Certificate of Practice (CoP). This certificate is mandatory for practicing law in India.
The AIBE 21 will be administered in multiple languages. This accommodates candidates from various regions across India.
