Punjab Law Student Shoots Classmate Dead, Attempts Suicide

A first-year law student fatally shot his female classmate inside a classroom in Punjab’s Tarn Taran district on Monday. The alleged shooter then turned the gun on himself.

The incident occurred at a college in Usma village. The victim, identified as Sandeep Kaur, died at the scene. The accused, Prince Raj, sustained critical injuries and was hospitalized. Both were approximately 19-20 years old.

Classroom Shooting Details

Deputy Superintendent of Police Jagbir Singh confirmed the events. Raj opened fire on Kaur inside the classroom. He then shot himself. Police stated the class had not yet begun when the shooting took place.

CCTV footage shows Prince, Sandeep, and another female student in the classroom. Other students were also present. Prince reportedly rose from his desk and fired at Sandeep. He then shot himself in the head.

The female student seated with Sandeep checked on her. She was unresponsive. Students entering the classroom after hearing shots fled upon seeing Sandeep.

Investigation and Response

Sandeep Kaur’s mother, Harjinder Kaur, was alerted by college authorities. She stated she was not initially informed of a shooting. She questioned how a student could bring a weapon onto campus.

Police are investigating the motive behind the shooting. Raj is from Mallian village. Sandeep was a resident of Naushehra Pannuan village.
