The National Testing Agency (NTA) has opened registrations for the NEET UG 2026 exam. Applications are now open on the official website, neet.nta.nic.in. The deadline to apply is March 8, 2026 . The NEET UG 2026 exam is scheduled for May 3, 2026 .
Application Process Changes
NTA has implemented new identity verification measures for the 2026 application. Aadhaar-based eKYC is now mandatory for all applicants. This change aims to reduce cheating and prevent duplicate registrations.
Live Photo Capture
Applicants must upload a live photograph during the registration process. This photo is captured using the device’s camera or webcam. The background should be light and well-lit. The applicant’s face, including ears, must be 80% visible and without a mask.
The live photograph will be compared against the Aadhaar database. If there is a mismatch or if Aadhaar is not used for verification, applicants must submit a signed and attested certificate with a recent photograph. This document, as detailed in Annexure-VI, must be certified by a School/College Principal, Headmaster, or a Class-I Gazetted Officer. For NRI candidates, certification by an Indian Embassy Class-I Gazetted Officer is required.
Mandatory Aadhaar eKYC
Aadhaar-based eKYC is now a required step for NEET UG 2026 applications. This electronic verification uses Aadhaar details to confirm applicant identity. Applicants must have an active mobile number linked to their Aadhaar for the verification process. Ensure all Aadhaar details are accurate before applying.
