The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026 exam begins on February 7, 2026. IIT Guwahati is the organizing authority. The computer-based test covers 30 subjects. GATE 2026 is for third-year undergraduate students and above. It is used for master’s and doctoral admissions. It also serves for Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) recruitment.
GATE 2026 Reporting and Exam Schedule
Candidates must adhere to strict reporting times. These times allow for biometric and document verification. The schedule below applies to the February 7 and 8, 2026 exams.

Important Reporting Instructions
Arrive at the GATE 2026 center at least 90 minutes before the exam starts. This ensures completion of security and biometric checks. Candidates can log in to their systems 20 minutes before the exam. This time is for reading instructions.
Late entry is not permitted after gates close. Some sessions may strictly deny entry after 10:00 AM (Forenoon) or 3:00 PM (Afternoon). Candidates must carry a printed copy of their GATE 2026 Admit Card . Use A4 paper for printing. Also, bring an original, valid photo ID. The ID must match the one used during registration.
