Rabri Devi Accuses Bihar Govt of NEET Death Cover-Up

RJD leader Rabri Devi accused Bihar Police of covering up facts in the death of a NEET aspirant. She made the accusation on Thursday. The protest occurred outside the Bihar Legislative Council. This was the third day of the Budget session.

NEET Aspirant’s Death and Allegations

The NEET aspirant was from Jehanabad. She was found unconscious in a Patna girls’ hostel. This happened last month. She died at a private hospital on January 11. She had been in a coma for days. Her family alleges sexual assault. They also accuse authorities of a cover-up.

The Bihar government recently recommended a CBI probe. The case was under investigation by a special investigation team (SIT). Rabri Devi spoke to reporters. She stated, “There is no district in Bihar where crimes are not happening.” She added, “The government and the home minister are silent on this.”

“They have handed over the case to the CBI after covering up all the facts,” Devi said. She alleged the government protects culprits. She claimed those involved are “ministers in the Bihar government or their sons.” Devi questioned the CBI’s effectiveness. She stated the agency is “under the control of the central government.”

Government Response

JD(U) MLC Neeraj Kumar dismissed Devi’s claims. He said she seeks media attention. Kumar suggested Devi might need memory aid. He stated, “If she is not able to recall the names of the minister and his son, she should take Medha Vati.”

Kumar asserted the Bihar government does not shield criminals. He said they face legal action. Regarding the Bihar budget, Devi stated it offers nothing for the people. She called it an attempt to fool voters.
