The December 2025 UGC NET cutoff marks have been released. The National Testing Agency (NTA) announced results and cutoff scores on January 8, 2026 . Candidates can now check eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), Assistant Professor positions, and PhD admissions.

Cutoff Details Released

The official cutoff marks are available in PDF format. These scores determine qualification for three categories. They include JRF and Assistant Professor appointments. They also cover Assistant Professor appointments and PhD admissions. A third category is for PhD admissions only. Candidates must meet or exceed these marks to qualify.

The UGC NET 2025 December exam took place from December 31, 2025, to January 7, 2026. The cutoff is determined by the score of the last qualifying candidate in each subject and category. This means exam performance across all slots influences the final cutoff.

Qualifying Criteria

To be eligible for the merit list, candidates need minimum aggregate marks in both Paper 1 and Paper 2. These marks vary by category.

Category Qualifying Criteria
General (Unreserved) / EWS 40% (120 out of 300 marks)
OBC-NCL / SC / ST / PwD / Transgender 35% (105 out of 300 marks)

UGC rules state that only the top 6% of all test-takers qualify for the NET. This 6% must achieve the minimum qualifying marks. Within this group, the top 1% of total candidates are considered for JRF. This equates to approximately the top 10-15% of those who passed the NET criteria.
