The Consortium of National Law Universities is revising the CLAT 2026 undergraduate merit list. This follows a recent Allahabad High Court judgment. The court ordered marks be awarded for Question No. 9 on Booklet C. Both options ‘B’ and ‘D’ are now considered correct. Scores will be revised for this question. However, candidates who secured seats in the first round of counselling are unaffected.
Merit List Revision and Appeal
The Consortium has issued a notification regarding the court’s decision. It clarifies the judgment’s impact on the ongoing counselling process. The Executive Committee plans to file a Special Appeal. This appeal will be presented to the Division Bench of the Allahabad High Court. The Consortium will defend its original CLAT 2026 final answer key.
Counselling Schedule Postponed
The revision of results and court proceedings affect the CLAT 2026 counselling schedule. The release of the Round 3 admission list is postponed. It was originally set for February 5, 2026. A new counselling schedule will be announced later. This will occur after the appeal process concludes.
Impact on Allotted Seats
Students who received seats in Rounds 1 and 2 of CLAT 2026 UG counselling need not worry. The Consortium stated it will take all necessary steps. These steps aim to ensure no allotted seats are impacted. The focus remains on maintaining the integrity of the admission process.
The Consortium aims to maintain the final answer key for subsequent counselling rounds. Further updates on the revised schedule will be provided.
