The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) began its Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) 2026 examination on February 4, 2026 . The exam is conducted nationwide in four daily shifts. Shift 1 concluded at 10:30 AM.
Exam Structure and Difficulty
The MTS exam has two sessions. Session 1 covers Mathematics and Reasoning. It has 40 questions worth 120 marks. There is no negative marking for this session. Session 2 includes General Knowledge (GK) and English. This session has 50 questions worth 150 marks. A negative marking of 1 mark applies for each incorrect answer in Session 2.
Candidate feedback indicates that Shift 1 was of moderate difficulty. GK questions focused heavily on current affairs. The English section tested direct/indirect speech, active/passive voice, and basic grammar. Mathematics questions primarily covered percentages, mensuration, and circles.
