The UGC NET exam determines eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), Assistant Professor, and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) admissions in Indian universities. A total of 7,35,592 candidates appeared for the December 2025 exams, held from December 31 to January 7 , with attendance between 71% and 75%.
