Updated Examination Pattern for CA Intermediate

ICAI implemented significant changes to the CA Intermediate examination pattern. These revisions came into effect starting from the May 2024 examinations. The new structure applies to all CA Intermediate papers.

Each paper now includes a section of multiple-choice questions (MCQs). These objective-type questions contribute 30 marks to the total score for each paper. This represents a 30% weightage within the overall assessment.

The remaining 70 marks in each paper are allocated to descriptive questions. This section follows the established pattern of assessment. Objective-type questions appear strictly in MCQ format.

Individual MCQs carry either 1 mark or 2 marks. A key feature of the updated pattern is the absence of negative marking. Candidates face no penalty for incorrect answers in the objective section. This affects test-taking approaches.
