A school teacher in Malampuzha, Palakkad, Kerala, was arrested Sunday on charges of sexually harassing a minor boy and forcing him to consume alcohol. Police identified the accused as Anil, an upper primary Sanskrit teacher at an aided school in the area. The case has been registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Incident Details Emerge
The alleged incident occurred on November 29 at Anil’s residence. Anil, a native of Kollangode, reportedly forced a Class 6 student to consume liquor. Following this, he allegedly sexually harassed the minor boy.
Discovery and School’s Response
The matter came to light on December 18 . The victim confided in a schoolmate, who subsequently informed the boy’s parents. The parents then reported the allegations to the school authorities. The school initiated disciplinary action against Anil.
However, school authorities did not inform the police about the allegations. The special branch, the intelligence wing of Kerala Police, independently received information about the incident. Special branch officials gathered further details.
Police Investigation and Arrest
Based on information from the special branch, police recorded the victim’s statement. Following the statement, officers registered a case against Anil. He faces charges under the POCSO Act.
Anil was arrested on Sunday. Police confirmed he will be produced in court as part of the remand process.
