Student Dies After Cheating Accusation in Jaipur Exam

JAIPUR – A 19-year-old college student died Saturday after reportedly jumping from the 12th floor of an under-construction building. Police stated the incident occurred following a cheating accusation during an examination. The student, identified as Priyanshu Raj, was studying Computer Science at Manipal University. He was a first-year student and a resident of the college hostel.

SHO Rajendra Kumar Godara reported that Priyanshu Raj, originally from Patna, Bihar, faced stress after being caught during his exam. University officials seized his answer sheet and notes in connection with the cheating allegation. These actions preceded the tragic incident.

Sequence of Events

Following the examination incident, Priyanshu Raj rented a scooter. He traveled approximately five kilometers from the university campus. His destination was an under-construction building located in the Bagru area.

Upon reaching the 12th floor, the student placed his bag and mobile phone on a wall. He then reportedly jumped from the structure. Workers at the construction site heard a loud thud. They initially believed a laborer had fallen. These workers then alerted local police.

Police Response and Discovery

Emergency services transported the student in critical condition to the Bagru Community Health Centre. Doctors there declared him dead upon arrival. Police immediately initiated an investigation at the scene of the incident.

During their search of the under-construction building, officers recovered Priyanshu Raj’s bag and mobile phone from the 12th floor. The bag contained documents confirming his identity.
