NIFTEM Kundli will train 2,110 minority youth under the PM VIKAS (Pradhan Mantri Virasat Ka Samvardhan) scheme. This skill development program, targeting individuals across Jharkhand, Bihar, Punjab, and Haryana, is scheduled to begin in January 2026 . The Ministry of Minority Affairs selected the National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM) Kundli as a Project Implementing Agency for this initiative.
Program Focus and Objectives
The PM VIKAS scheme focuses on enhancing the employability of minority communities. It aims to create new livelihood opportunities for participants. The program provides essential market and credit linkages. This support helps integrate beneficiaries into the national economic mainstream.
NIFTEM Kundli, recognized as a National Importance Institute (INI), will deliver specialized training. The curriculum includes National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF) compliant courses. These courses are approved by the National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET).
Training Categories
The program offers training in three distinct skill areas:
- Multi Skill Technician (Food Processing): Focuses on various aspects of food processing technologies.
- Millet Products Processor: Specializes in the processing and creation of products from millets.
- Assistant Baking Technician: Provides skills for baking and pastry production.
Geographic Reach and Impact
Youth from minority communities in four states will benefit from this initiative. The training centers will operate in:
- Jharkhand
- Bihar
- Punjab
- Haryana
The selection of these states targets regions where skill development and economic integration for minority youth can have a significant impact. The program directly supports the scheme’s goal of developing capacity through targeted interventions.
Employment and Certification
Beyond skill acquisition, the PM VIKAS scheme emphasizes placement support. Eligible skilled beneficiaries will receive assistance in securing employment. This includes opportunities in wage employment, self-employment, or apprenticeships. The program also facilitates entry into the organized sector.
Participants who successfully complete their training will receive certifications. These certificates will be issued by institutions approved by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE). This ensures national recognition and validity for their acquired skills.
Scheme Vision
The PM VIKAS scheme is designed to empower youth from minority communities. It provides them with critical skill training in demand-driven courses. The ultimate aim is to ensure sustainable employment and livelihood opportunities. This initiative reflects a broader government effort to boost skill development nationwide.
