Understanding NAAC Accreditation

NAAC evaluates higher education institutions on quality. The assessment results in a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) and a corresponding grade. A CGPA of 3.01 and above places an institution in the A category or higher. Institutions scoring below 1.50 receive non-accreditation.

The highest possible NAAC score is 3.51 and above , which earns an A++ grade. The final CGPA is rounded to two decimal points. Accreditation outcomes combine a peer team report, quantitative analysis, and the institutional grade sheet. Institutions must display these results on their official websites.

New Accreditation Frameworks

NAAC introduced a new Basic Binary Accreditation framework. This will be followed by a Maturity Based Graded Levels (MBGL) accreditation. These frameworks implement recommendations from the Dr. Radhakrishnan committee, aiming for refined assessment processes.

Accreditation Extensions

Institutions with accreditations expiring between January 27, 2024 , and the launch of MBGL accreditation will receive a one-time extension of up to three months . These institutions can also choose to apply for basic accreditation once it becomes available. They must continue quality assurance through their Internal Quality Assurance Cells (IQAC cells).
