Punjab NEET PG 2025 Round 2: Schedule Revised, 53 New MD, MS Seats

The Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) Faridkot has revised the Punjab NEET PG 2025 Round 2 counselling schedule. Choice filling for Doctor of Medicine (MD) and Master of Surgery (MS) admissions began on December 23, 2024 , on the official BFUHS website, bfuhs.ggsmch.org. This update directly impacts candidates seeking postgraduate medical seats in Punjab. A significant development is the addition of 53 new MD and MS seats , following a Punjab and Haryana High Court order.

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET PG) is India’s national examination for postgraduate medical admissions. Counselling rounds, managed by BFUHS Faridkot for Punjab, allocate MD and MS seats based on candidate ranks and preferences. This increase in seats expands opportunities for postgraduate medical education within the state.

These 53 new MD and MS seats are distributed across four medical colleges in Punjab. Adesh Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, Bathinda, received 8 new seats. Sri Guru Ram Das University of Health Sciences, Amritsar, gained 23 additional seats. Dayanand Medical College, Ludhiana, added 6 seats. Gian Sagar Medical College & Hospital, Banur, received 16 new seats. This expansion directly increases the total postgraduate medical intake for the current academic year.

Upgrade Options and Future Rounds

Candidates unsatisfied with their Round 2 seat allotment can choose to upgrade. This allows participation in subsequent counselling rounds for a potentially more preferred college or specialty. Opting for an upgrade indicates acceptance of the current seat while expressing interest in a better option if it becomes available.

Punjab NEET PG Round 3 offers additional opportunities. Applicants can fill fresh preferences during this round. This includes selecting new combinations of colleges, courses, and medical specialties. This flexibility provides another chance for candidates to secure a desired postgraduate medical program.
