JEE Advanced 2026 Syllabus Out: Download PCM Topics, Exam Date

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has released the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2026 syllabus. Prospective candidates can now download the official syllabus document. It is available in PDF format on the examination’s official website, jeeadv.ac.in .

The JEE Advanced 2026 examination is scheduled for May 17, 2026 . This national-level entrance test facilitates admissions to undergraduate programs at IITs across India. The syllabus outlines subject-wise topics for Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM).

JEE Advanced 2026 Exam Structure

The JEE Advanced 2026 exam will be conducted entirely as a computer-based test. It comprises two distinct papers, designated as Paper 1 and Paper 2. Both papers are mandatory for all candidates.

  • Paper 1: Scheduled from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
  • Paper 2: Scheduled from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM.

Each paper will have a duration of three hours. The examination content will be available in two languages. Candidates can choose between English and Hindi as their preferred medium for attempting the papers. The syllabus for JEE Advanced 2026 remains consistent with previous years. No changes have been introduced for this examination cycle.

JEE Main 2026 Dates

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the JEE Main 2026 examination. JEE Main is a prerequisite for appearing in JEE Advanced. The NTA has announced dates for two sessions:

  • Session 1: From January 21 to January 30, 2026.
  • Session 2: From April 2 to April 9, 2026.

Candidates must qualify in JEE Main to be eligible for JEE Advanced. Last year, 2,50,236 candidates qualified for the JEE Advanced 2025 exam. This number represents the top performers from the JEE Main examination.

JEE Advanced 2026 Eligibility Criteria

IIT Roorkee has also outlined specific eligibility requirements for JEE Advanced 2026. These criteria cover age limits and academic qualifications. Candidates must meet all specified conditions to be considered eligible.

Age Limit Requirements

Candidates must meet specific age cut-offs based on their birth year. General category candidates must have been born on or after October 1, 2001 . Age relaxations apply for reserved categories:

  • For candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Persons with Disabilities (PWD) categories, the upper age limit is relaxed by five years.
  • These candidates must have been born on or after October 1, 1996 .

Academic Qualification Requirements

Academic performance and timing of Class 12 completion are also critical for eligibility. Only specific batches of Class 12 students can apply:

  • Candidates who passed their Class 12 board examinations in 2025 are eligible.
  • Candidates who are currently appearing for their Class 12 board examinations in 2026 are also eligible.
  • Candidates who passed their Class 12 boards in 2024 or any year prior to 2025 are not eligible to apply for JEE Advanced 2026.

Additionally, all candidates must appear in the JEE Main examination. They must also qualify by achieving the prescribed cutoff score. Meeting these stringent criteria is essential for any student aspiring to pursue engineering education at an IIT.
