Gujarat NEET UG Round 5: 10,710 Ineligible for 33 BDS Seats

Gujarat’s state medical admissions committee has declared 10,710 candidates ineligible for the ongoing NEET UG Round 5 counselling for Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) admissions. This round aims to fill 33 vacant BDS seats within Gujarat’s dental colleges. The Admission Committee for Professional Under Graduate Medical Courses (ACPUGMEC) is conducting this additional state-level counselling to complete the admission process.

The need for these extra counselling rounds emerged following a decision by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), the national authority for medical admissions. MCC announced two additional counselling rounds for both All India Quota (AIQ) and state quota seats. These rounds address positions remaining vacant after the standard four selection processes. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSc Nursing) seats will also be filled during this extended counselling phase.

The significant number of ineligible candidates stems from several specific criteria. Reasons for application cancellation include ineligibility for Gujarat’s domicile quota. Some applicants had already secured admission under the All India Quota, making them ineligible for further state-level seat allocation. Other disqualifications involved candidates who failed to clear the Class 12 board examination, a prerequisite for admission. Additionally, a portion of candidates forfeited their refundable security deposit, leading to their exclusion from the merit list.

Despite these cancellations, a total of 7,030 candidates have been shortlisted to participate in this additional round. These eligible students will now compete directly for the limited 33 BDS seats available. The published Gujarat NEET UG Round 5 general merit list includes candidates with NEET All India Ranks (AIR) ranging from 6027 to 1,318,847 . Their corresponding NEET UG 2025 scores span from 567 down to 113 , highlighting the broad spectrum of scores.

The initial phase of Round 5 counselling has already concluded. Key preliminary steps, including online registration, PIN purchase, and document verification processes, were completed on December 12 . Following this verification, ACPUGMEC published the comprehensive Gujarat NEET UG merit list for these final two counselling rounds. This list identifies all candidates qualified to proceed.

Eligible students can soon access the choice filling facility. It will be available on the official ACPUGMEC website,medadmgujarat.org. Candidates must carefully select and lock their preferred courses and institutions within the specified timeframe. Accurate choice filling impacts seat allotment outcomes.

Seat allotment results will be declared shortly after the choice filling and locking processes are finalized. The deadline for seat allotment declaration is set for December 16 . Subsequently, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has established December 20 as the final deadline for state admissions under Round 5. Shortlisted candidates must complete admission formalities, including reporting to allotted colleges, by this deadline.

This extended counselling is the final opportunity for many candidates to secure a BDS seat in Gujarat. Candidates must monitor the official website for updates. All required steps must be completed within timelines. Missing any deadline forfeits admission.
