WB HS 2026 Exam Dates, Guidelines Announced | WBCHSE

The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) has released complete datesheets and guidelines for the West Bengal Class 12 Semester 4, Semester 3 Supplementary, and Higher Secondary examinations under the old system. Exams will be held from February 12 to February 27, 2026 .

The council issued these documents to clarify pre-exam and exam-day procedures for schools, examination personnel, and students. This includes details on admit card distribution, permitted items, and strict policies against unfair means.

Exam Schedule Details

Examinations for West Bengal Class 12 Semester 4, Semester 3 Supplementary, and Higher Secondary (Old System) will run for over two weeks in February 2026.

Key Dates and Timings

Semester 4 exams will take place from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM . Vocational, Visual Arts, and Music subjects for Semester 4 are scheduled from 10:00 AM to 11:15 AM . Semester 3 supplementary exams will be conducted from 1:00 PM to 2:15 PM , with specific subjects from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM . The Higher Secondary exam (Old System) will run from 10:00 AM to 1:15 PM . Health and Physical Education, Visual Arts, and Music for the Higher Secondary exam will conclude earlier, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM .

Admit Card Distribution

Admit cards for the Semester 4 and Semester 3 supplementary exams will be available online for download by heads of institutions. Admit cards for the Higher Secondary examination under the old system will be distributed offline on January 28, 2026 . Students must collect these from their respective institutions.

Examination Hall Regulations

Students must bring valid admit cards, registration certificates, and writing materials in transparent pouches to the examination hall. Borrowing items inside the hall is prohibited. Electronic devices, written material, bags, smartwatches, and similar prohibited items are not allowed inside examination venues. Only examinees of the Higher Secondary Examination 2026 under the old system may use calculators enabling normal, trigonometric, exponential, and logarithmic functions.

Unfair Means Policy

WBCHSE has outlined strict procedures for candidates found using unfair means during the WB HS 2026 exams. The council will take immediate action against misconduct or malpractice.

Actions for Violations

The council has specified actions for cases involving prohibited items, misconduct, or malpractice. Candidates found using unfair means will face severe penalties. When a candidate is caught, “RA” (Reported Against) should be marked immediately in DWAAR and ASR. OMR sheets must be packed according to procedure. Any examinee carrying prohibited electronic devices or assaulting examination personnel will face cancellation of all examinations and enrolment. Their admit cards will be seized and sent directly to the council. Venue supervisors, centre secretaries, and centre-in-charges must inform the Deputy Secretary (Examination) via email without delay. Institutions may also face penalties if their students are involved in such activities. Candidates involved in violations will be called before the Malpractice and Misconduct Enquiry Committee (MMEC) for further action.

Prohibited Behaviors

Students must be aware of specific actions and behaviors that constitute unfair means. An examinee will be reported against for the following violations:

  • Possessing prohibited electronic gadgets.
  • Misbehaving with or assaulting examination staff.
  • Damaging examination venue property.
  • Possessing books, notes, or loose pages.
  • Fighting or quarreling with other candidates.
  • Helping or receiving help in answering questions.
  • Engaging an impersonator.
  • Offering illegal inducements to staff.
  • Carrying question papers, answer scripts, or OMR sheets outside the hall.
  • Writing improper words or sentences on the script or OMR.
  • Having mismatched loose sheets compared to the main answer script records.
