Odisha Police arrested a man from Bihar in connection with the JE (civil) exam 2023 question paper leak. Raj Mohan Prasad, 35, a resident of Samastipur district, Bihar, was apprehended on Saturday. Police brought Prasad to Odisha on transit remand Sunday. This arrest brings the total number of individuals held in the case to 27.
Arrest Details and Exam Impact
Prasad was arrested by the Crime Branch. An officer confirmed his transfer to Odisha. The recruitment examination for junior civil engineers was originally scheduled for July 16, 2023 . The exam was postponed after the question paper leak became public.
The Leak Operation
According to police, Prasad collaborated with Vishal Kumar, Bijendra Gupta, and Ajay Kumar. They traveled to a hotel near Digha in West Bengal. The group possessed the leaked question papers. Approximately 87 candidates were expected at the hotel to receive the papers.
Police Action and Capture
Odisha Police received a tip-off. Officers conducted a raid at the hotel location. Accused persons present were arrested during the raid. Prasad, however, managed to escape from the site. He continuously changed his location to avoid capture. Police eventually apprehended Prasad after a sustained search.
