Col Seema Mishra: First Woman Principal at UP Sainik School

LUCKNOW – Colonel Seema Mishra now leads Captain Manoj Kumar Pandey Uttar Pradesh Sainik School in Lucknow. She is the first woman principal in the school’s 65-year history. Education department officials confirmed her appointment on Thursday. The Uttar Pradesh government issued the formal order on December 3 .

Colonel Mishra will serve a two-year term. Her appointment is on deputation. The Sainik School Society under the Ministry of Defence approved her selection. This approval came on October 30 .

Appointment Process

Additional Chief Secretary (Basic and Secondary Education) Partha Sarthi Sen Sharma finalized the process. He issued the government’s formal order. Colonel Mishra replaces Colonel Rajesh Raghav. Colonel Raghav had served as principal since January 2021 .

Colonel Mishra’s Career

Colonel Mishra is an officer in the Army Educational Corps (AEC). She began her commission in 2003 . Her service spans over 22 years .

Captain Manoj Kumar Pandey Uttar Pradesh Sainik School holds a unique distinction. It became the first Sainik School nationwide to admit girl cadets. This historic decision occurred in 2018 . The school welcomed 15 initial girl cadets that year.

Personal Details

Colonel Seema Mishra is the wife of martyr Major Nitesh Roy. Major Roy died in Afghanistan in 2010 . He received the Shaurya Chakra posthumously.
