CAT 2025 Exam: Checklist of What to Bring and What Not To

The Common Admission Test (CAT) 2025 will occur on November 30, 2025 . IIM Kozhikode conducts the exam for admission to various management programs. Candidates planning to take the test must bring specific documents to their designated exam centres. Failure to present the required identification and admit card will prevent entry to the examination hall. Preparation for exam day includes assembling all necessary materials.

Required Documents for CAT 2025

Candidates must carry the following essential documents to the exam centre:

CAT Admit Card
  • Bring a clear, printed copy on an A4 sheet.
  • The admit card requires a passport-size photograph. This photo must be identical to the one uploaded during the online registration process. Affix it securely to the designated space on the admit card.
  • Do not sign the admit card before entering the centre. Candidates must sign the admit card only in the presence of an invigilator at the exam centre. This procedure ensures identity verification.
Valid Photo ID Proof (Original)
  • Candidates must present an original, valid government-issued photo identification. Photocopies or digital copies are not accepted for verification.
  • The name displayed on the Photo ID must precisely match the name printed on the CAT Admit Card. Discrepancies may lead to denied entry.
  • Accepted government-recognised IDs include:
    • Aadhaar Card (with photograph) / E-Aadhaar
    • PAN Card
    • Voter ID
    • Passport
    • Driving License
  • Ensure the chosen ID is valid and clearly legible on exam day.

Passport-size Photographs

In addition to the photograph on the admit card, candidates must carry at least two recent passport-size photographs. These extra photographs must be the same as the one used in the CAT application form and affixed to the admit card. They serve as a backup for verification purposes.

Permitted Items

Candidates can bring a limited number of personal items into the exam hall. These include:

  • A transparent blue or black ballpoint pen. Only these specific pens are allowed for marking.
  • A transparent water bottle. Opaque bottles are not permitted.

Documents for PwD Candidates

Candidates registered under the Person with Disability (PwD) category have specific document requirements. They must carry:

  • A valid Medical Certificate confirming their disability.
  • A valid Person with Disability (PwD) Certificate. This certificate must be issued by a relevant government authority.
  • A Scribe Affidavit form. PwD candidates opting to use a scribe for the exam must present this duly filled and signed affidavit. This ensures compliance with regulations for scribe assistance.

Prohibited Items at Exam Centres

Strict rules apply to items prohibited inside the exam hall. Carrying any of these items may result in disqualification. Candidates must not carry the following:

  • Electronic Devices:
    • Mobile phones, smartphones, and any smartwatches.
    • Digital or analogue watches, calculators.
    • Headphones, earphones, cameras, and Bluetooth devices.
    • Any other electronic gadgets.
  • Stationery and Personal Belongings:
    • Extra paper, rough sheets (these are provided), books, or notes.
    • Pencils, geometry boxes.
    • Wallets, purses, or bags of any size.
  • Jewellery and Accessories:
    • Any type of jewellery, including rings, bracelets, earrings, necklaces.
    • Other accessories like belts or hair clips that could conceal prohibited items.
  • Excessive Clothing and Footwear:
    • Candidates should avoid excessive clothing with large pockets.
    • Footwear with thick soles or elaborate designs is also restricted to prevent potential concealment of prohibited materials.

Candidates should review these guidelines thoroughly before exam day. Adhering to all instructions ensures a smooth and fair examination process. Plan travel to the centre, considering reporting times.
