Police in Uttarakhand arrested a candidate on Tuesday for using a Bluetooth device during the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL) examination. Authorities are actively searching for two additional suspects linked to the alleged cheating scheme.

The incident occurred at the Mahadev Digital Zone, located within Mahadevi Inter College, in Uttarakhand. The arrested candidate, identified as Deepak, hails from Rohtak, Haryana. He appeared for the first shift of the online examination on Tuesday, November 19 . This shift took place between 10 AM and 11 AM .
Deepak initially passed security screenings and entered the examination hall. During the exam, he requested permission to leave the hall to use the restroom. Upon his return, security personnel conducted a routine secondary check. This additional screening led to the discovery of a Bluetooth device concealed on his person.
Investigation Identifies Network
During subsequent police interrogation, Deepak confessed to the cheating attempt. He provided details about how he obtained the device and who was involved in the plan. Deepak stated that Lucky Singh, an individual employed at the examination center, provided him with the Bluetooth device.
Deepak also revealed that Lucky Singh was facilitating communication with another acquaintance named Jaish. Jaish was reportedly prepared to transmit the correct answers to Deepak during the ongoing examination. This network aimed to illegally provide an advantage in a competitive government recruitment test.
Legal Consequences and Ongoing Manhunt
Following Deepak’s confession and the discovery of the device, police promptly filed an official complaint. They then arrested Deepak. Law enforcement authorities have registered a formal case under the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024 . This specific legislation was enacted to combat malpractices in government recruitment and entrance examinations nationwide.
