RRB Group D Exam 2025: Selection Procedure Overview
The selection process for RRB Group D positions is structured into three mandatory stages. Candidates must successfully clear each stage to progress to the next and be considered for employment.
-
Computer-Based Test (CBT): This initial examination is an online test. It comprises 100 multiple-choice questions covering General Science, Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, and General Awareness & Current Affairs. Candidates receive 90 minutes to complete the test. Each correct answer earns one mark. A negative marking scheme applies: one-third (1/3) of a mark is deducted for every incorrect response. Only candidates achieving the qualifying marks proceed to the next stage.
-
Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Candidates who successfully qualify the CBT are called for the PET. This stage assesses the physical capabilities required for railway duties. The PET includes specific physical tasks, such as running a set distance within a time limit (e.g., 1000 meters in 4 minutes 15 seconds for male candidates) and lifting or carrying weights over a specific distance (e.g., 35 kg for 100 meters in 2 minutes for male candidates). Standards differ for male and female candidates. Failure to meet these physical standards results in disqualification.
-
Document Verification and Medical Examinations: The final stage involves a thorough verification of all original documents submitted by the candidate during the application process. This ensures authenticity and eligibility. Following successful document verification, candidates undergo a comprehensive medical examination conducted by railway medical authorities. The medical assessment determines a candidate’s fitness for the specified railway post based on strict medical criteria. Unfit candidates are not selected.
Candidates are strongly advised to regularly check their regional RRB websites. Official updates regarding admit card releases, detailed exam guidelines, and further instructions will be published there.
