Baghpat Schools Receive 75 Computers via Vidyanjali CSR Initiative

Fifteen government schools in Baghpat district will receive 75 refurbished computers, enhancing their digital learning capabilities. The Ministry of Education dispatched these computers following a flag-off ceremony held recently in New Delhi. This initiative forms part of the Vidyanjali Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, targeting improved digital infrastructure in schools.

Digital Infrastructure Project for Baghpat

The project, titled “Digital Infrastructure Development in Schools,” specifically addresses the needs of Baghpat district. National Informatics Centre Services Inc. (NICSI) adopted this project through the Vidyanjali portal, committing to its implementation. The 75 refurbished computers will be distributed among schools located in six key blocks: Pilana, Khekra, Chhaproli, Binoly, Baraut, and Baghpat.

This distribution aims to achieve several core objectives. Primarily, it seeks to improve digital access for students, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas. It will promote e-learning resources, providing new avenues for educational content delivery. Furthermore, the initiative supports both teachers and students in effectively integrating modern technology into daily classroom teaching, preparing them for a digitally-driven future.

The project directly aligns with broader national goals such as the Digital India campaign, which emphasizes digital literacy and access across the country. It also supports the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which advocates for technology integration at all levels of education to foster innovation and critical thinking among learners.

Understanding Vidyanjali

Vidyanjali is a key initiative by the Department of School Education and Literacy, under the Ministry of Education. Its primary goal is to strengthen government and government-aided schools across India by fostering community participation. The platform facilitates contributions from a diverse group of stakeholders.

Individual volunteers, including alumni and various professionals, can engage with schools of their choice. Organizations, particularly those involved in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), also play a significant role. Contributions can be made in various forms, including physical assets, essential equipment, or specialized services crucial for overall school development.

The Vidyanjali framework includes a dedicated CSR module. This module allows districts to submit project proposals focused on critical developmental areas. These areas encompass digital infrastructure, sports facilities, health programs, and environmental initiatives. Once submitted, state education authorities review and approve these proposals, enabling CSR entities like NICSI to adopt and fund specific projects.

Flag-off Ceremony and National Impact

The flag-off ceremony, marking the dispatch of the computers, took place in New Delhi. Jayant Chaudhary, the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education, presided over the event. The ceremony saw participation from over 250 individuals, including officials and representatives from Baghpat district.

During the event, Minister Chaudhary highlighted the extensive reach and positive impact of the Vidyanjali program nationwide. He reported that the Vidyanjali portal has successfully onboarded more than 8.33 lakh government schools . It has also registered over 5.55 lakh individual volunteers eager to contribute their time and skills. The platform currently includes over 2,300 Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) groups and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) .

These collective efforts have directly benefited approximately 1.8 crore students across India, providing them with enhanced educational resources and opportunities. Minister Chaudhary emphasized that Vidyanjali creates a vital link, allowing working and retired professionals from diverse fields to connect with and support schools of their choice as dedicated volunteers.
